Tempo run

Today was a tempo run according to Mcmillan running I should have been aiming for 9:10/mile but managed to do 3 miles in 26:49 which is 8:56/mile so pretty pleased with that.

Short and sweet post tonight, see ya!

Leadership in Running Fitness

Well had to have a few days off as absolutely tons of marking to do, I still have bucket loads left but I was going nuts without running.

On Friday night I went down to Sorelimbs parent's house in South Wales ready to nip down to Cardiff in the morning for a course. It was the Leadership in Running Fitness run by Welsh Athletics and held at Cardiff International Athletics Stadium. Had a really good day learning about leading a runners group and more about different types of runs, the tutors were brilliant and met some lovely people from Sooooooooouth Wales (and one annoying one!). Once I get my CRB check done I get a license from UK Athletics so I can lead my own group, I'm planning on starting a beginners group at work.

Had a good day today dragging Mum around Cheshire Oaks whilst I purchased quite a few clothes and had a nice lunch at Bella Italia courtesey of Mr T's.

This evening it was still quite warm and perfect for a get off your bum and go running session so went off for a 3 miler, I have 14 weeks until we're doing a 1/2 marathon so need to be building the mileage up a bit.

6 miles in the rain

Pissing down all afternoon, strangely started not long after I cleaned the car! Still it was time to go out for my run well wrapped up and get on with it.

Off out along the coast road towards Rhyl, I keep away from the beach in this sort of weather as it's always windy. So a straight and boring route to do 6.18 miles but that's the longest I've done for a while.

I can't believe we have 2 more weeks of this pain and torture, sorry I mean fitness festival, I've never done so much laundry!

Car search and hilly run

Today we have spent most of the day looking for a new car, a few contenders then we settled on one just down the road. Despite all the driving and looking at cars the kids have been brill so treated with balloons and some sweets. Home to make strawberry yoghurt ice-cream then out for a run.

I decided to do Sorelimbs 4 miles with the hill as I haven't been up the top for a while, man it hurt especially after so many days running. Getting aches just on the top of my ankle but other than that just tired, tired, tired.

Rest tonight and watch the footie then out for 6 miler tomorrow.

10th June ah that'll be day 10 then!

I made it back no sheep confrontations today just lots of road works, all the students I have in the Leisure Centres seem lovely so really looking forward to working with them.

Dodged the rain again this evening to complete 3 miles in 30:27, hoping to do a longer run tomorrow evening when Sorelimbs gets home from work.

Legs are tired but still seem to be getting me round!

Day 9 - crappy students, no sleep, crappy run

Sometimes I wonder why students bother to get out of bed in the morning, I'm suprised that they can even manage to dress themselves let alone get on the bus to college. 3 more weeks with the little darlings then I can have my Wednesdays back - ahhhh bliss!

So after a terrible nights sleep where the littlest one was doing his best to wake up the street every hour on the hour and a day with crappy students I was less then ready to go for a run. However since this Juneathon thing has kicked off my running again and I am actually grateful I thought I'd better stop moaning and get out for a saunter around the block. 2 miles done then, nothing special but then again 9 days in a row IS special so I'll not knock myself for a short run.

Off to Llanrwst again tomorrow and after nearly killing two sheep that were in the road yesterday when I was driving there, I hope I make it back in one piece for my run and blog tomorrow.

Wish me luck...........

Day 8 - I had the sunshine!

Well whilst most of you seemed to be running in the rain today I went out this evening and it was lovely and sunny ha ha!

I wasn't expecting to be very quick today as I went to bed without any supper yesterday, not because I had been naughty but because I had stomach cramps and felt sick. Feeling much better today and went out down to the beach, up past Pontins and round up to the top of town , then back home. I was right it was slow but hey I need to start uping the miles a bit so the speed can wait for a bit.

3.16 miles 31:40 (10:01/mile)

Question - why is it you can be 18 to drink but 21 to buy it in the shops?

Bleurgh

Legs feeling tired and achy today and so only managed a slow bimble around the block which is approx 2 miles, didn't even take the GPS as I think it stops working if you go too slow!

Rhyl Race for Life - New PB

Last night I finished off the day by doing some toning exercises which consisted of:

50 situps
50 Inner and Outer Thigh lifts (both legs)
50 Bicep curls
50 Shoulder toners(!)
50 Tricep curls

Believe me even though I use small ankle weights and dumbells you can feel the muscles working with the increased reps. I see lads in the gym struggling to lift massive weights and their posture and technique is awful.

Today I took part in the Rhyl Race for Life, I usually do the afternoon race but thought I'd be different this year and do the morning. It's always a good atmosphere at this event and the sun had come out after a cool start. The kids had their ice creams and Sorelimbs took some piccies and all gave me good support as usual.

I had a race plan which has in previous years gone out to sea as soon as I start by going off too quickly but this year I held back and stuck to my own pace, it paid off as I was able to really pick up the pace in the last km. Still lots of room for improvement but really pleased with a new PB of 27:26 for the 5km.

We made a quick exit as Tom was going nuts because it was past his nap time and went home. My beautiful daughter had decorated my bedroom to say well done and had a lovely cup of Rosie Lea.

I'll do the toning exercises at some point later, need to start working on pressups because I'm crap at those!

slow plod

I'm doing the Rhyl Race for Life at 11am tomorrow so I didn't want to be too strenuous today, I plodded around in the midday sun and still managed approx 35mins. Now a nice rest ready for tomorrow's race and Roasted tomato soup that the lovely Sorelimbs has made.

3.23 miles 35mins approx Very Hot!

The Fourth comes forth!

So here we are day 4 already I started off well this morning by doing 25 situps as soon as I got out of bed but then thought sod this I'm off for my breakfast (as well as getting the little ones ready).

We did the boring food shopping then after Tom's nap and lunch we went to buy sandals on the way to the park. Had a lovely time in the park and played footie on the field in between having to chase after Tom who was doing his own game of runnng in the opposite direction to Mummy and Amelia!

This evening spurred on by Sorelimbs increase in distance I also did 5 miles, bloody shattered but it's my longest run for some time so not too worried. Off for a cool bath and collaspe into bed. Ready for day 5!

5 miles 48:52 (9:47/mile)

Day 3 - feeling fab!

Today I have had a great day of fitness, firstly I actually managed to go for a run after dropping off the kids and was down the beach by 9am. I thought it was wise to go early as I decided to wear my shorts for the first time this year and didn't want to upset too many people.

There was hardly anyone on the beach this morning which was lovely, so did 3.2 miles in 33mins which was slower than yesterday but I'm not bothered today.

I went home and got changed ready to go swimming, I was due to go with my mum who has just returned to swimming after not going for 6 years but yesterday she decided to be a silly bean and fall over at home and hurt her arm! So I went by myself and did a lovely 40 lengths.

This evening I was working at the gym them when I came home I've done my toning exercises, situps and girlie press-ups.

I've had a fab day, I wish I could spend every day like this :-)

In other news the guy that I work with at the gym is getting me a mountain bike for a bargin price, also I did eventually weigh myself today - current weight is 11 stone so aiming to lose 1 stone for starters.

Ah that's better, sunshine - not!

Now who the bloody hell was moaning about the rain yesterday? Well I was one and never shall I moan again!

I went out later than planned today - about 6 hours later (I was busy alright!) so ended up going out at 3pm and boy was it hot. I felt a bit sick towards the end of the run and desperately needed water but still I'm glad I went out.

The problem with living in a tourist destination is that in the holidays it packed with people so I steered away from the beach today, I did my usual 3.22 mile route so the only busy bit is by the train station and back into town.

3.22 miles 31:08 9:40/mile so pretty pants for me!

Just off to do some toning exercises with weights then wash and change into some cool clothes before picking up the little bods.

1st of June - so it rains!

I think pretty much the whole of the UK had the same downpour today, but it didn't dampen my spirits and I set off on my route around the block, since I've been a bit crap recently I thought I would start easy and then build up over the month. The route is 3.23 miles and was a shock to the system, I had a bad cold last week so it really was my first day out. Well I ran, it was uneventful and feel better for getting my arse out there.

Forgot to weigh myself this morning so will do in the morning.

A good start, looking forward to tomorrow.
