Anglesey 1/2 Marathon

So it arrived, the day of the half marathon was upon us. Was I ready....um no to be quite honest, most of the training went well but not enough time to fit in the necessary long runs. Also I'm gonna have a word with the bloke at work who said it was a nice route and only a bit of a hill at the end, lies bloody lies - there were hills all over the place!

Did quite well until 9 1/2 miles then a niggling pain in my right thigh caused me problems for the rest of the run and very heavy and tired legs. So ended up being a complete pain until we got back. Still it's done now and took 2hrs:20 so not nearly what I was aiming for.

Highlight of the day was chatting to Colin Jackson, a lovely man and gave a great speech at the start of our run.

Today's another day and my whole body is feeling the effects, stairs are not my friend today and if I drop anything on the floor then that's where it stays! However since I have my next challenge in the pipeline, instead of sitting around feeling sorry for myself, I've been up the track on my bike to do a 5 mile cycle. I know 5 miles on a bike isn't far but it's definitely helped ease the aching legs.

So my next challenge is... drum roll please.... http://www.endurancelife.com/event.asp?series=36&location=111

This challenge is with someone who is raising money for Help for Heroes, she is doing 12 challenges in 12 months and I'll post more about her adventures soon. Anyway just look at this kit list:

Half Marathon: Mobile phone, head gear (a buff or similar qualifies) a wind proof gilet or jacket, a whistle, a basic 1st aid kit, a foil safety wrap (space blanket), a water bottle or hydration system and some energy foods

and this is the info:

Date 22.01.2010

Event Base Hollyhead

Highlights Mt. Hollyhead

Treardur Beach

South Stack

Terrain Grass

Rock

Mud

Difficulty 3 : Strenuous

So plenty of hard work over the next few months so I'm ready for this!

Well done, it sounds like a hard one. But not as hard as your next challenge, looks amazing!
