3 quick miles!

After chatting to my lovely hubbie I realised that I've actually been slacking a bit, what with all those miles I hear you cry - or whisper actually, well yes I haven't been putting enough effort in.

So tonights run was going to be a quick one and really pick up the pace, I ran around the block which I haven't done for a long time so it was nice to do a different route, no tape on feet and they felt fine, and I headed off on what I thought was maybe 2 1/2 to 3 miles. I felt really good and was keeping up a nice pace all the way, after heading down the hill towards the coast road and then on my way back home I was waiting for the tiredness to kick in but it didn't. I kept up the pace all the way home and was pleased with my times:

Sat 29/8 3.27 miles 31:36 (9:39/mile)

Sitting here now with a hot water and lemon and just had a lovely orange, very healthy but I did have a nice pack of Roast Beef Monster Munch beforehand lol!

Warning - girlie post!

On Thursday I decided to take my daughter swimming as they had a fun session on, I haven't been swimming for ages - I think I was about 4 months pregnant with Tom. So I went to find my swimming gear and discover that not only do I just have maternity swimming gear but despite all the running I still look terrible in a costume. So apologies to any guys reading this, well actually no coz it's my blog so there, I was a bit down. Anyway I went swimming, played with my daughter, tried to stop myself from drowning some nightmare kids and their parents and had a good time. No run that day as wanted to rest for my long run on Friday, did the ironing instead oh joy!

Friday was my long run but during the day I went into town to buy a new swim suit as we are going swimming as a family on Sunday morning, Tom's first time by the way, so I wanted to get a decent costume. Glad I did as it looks much better than the maternity one!

When Sorelimbs got home I went out for my long run, I gave myself an hour out and an hour back that way he knew when to get my dinner ready for. I decided to go out on the hilly route as I need to do this more often as the marathon is creeping ever closer. I felt really comfortable and SL had taped up my feet well so they felt better too. I managed to get out 5 miles by 55 mins so took on some fluids and started running back, a nice comfortable run and home to a fab dinner, a glass of wine, and abuse on Facebook from my family :-)

Update..

Hmm no posts since Sunday slacking somewhat but not from the running.

Saturday I went over to my parents house in the afternoon and whilst Amelia made cakes with my mum and Tom had a nap, I went for a run to do hills. I went up to a road nearby which I did reps on a few weeks ago, I was pleased that the first 2 reps were very comfortable even a little steep bit at the end so I decided to do a few reps on the next road up as it was steeper and shorter and also because I was annoying a dog in one of the gardens. I did 5 reps of this hill, then 2 more reps of the longer but less steep hil and returned back to my parents for a cup of tea and some lovely cakes.

Sunday was a rest day as Sorelimbs was away and by the time we had gone out to pick him up and got home it was getting late.

Monday I had to work late so no time for a run.

Tuesday I did a quick 3 miler, I felt good and was comfortable running at the increased pace.

Wedsnesday I went out for a 7 mile run, I taped up my feet to see if would help with the aching which I can't remeber whether I've posted about on not, anyway the tape on the right foot helped a bit but still achey on the left. I going to try some thinly padded tape for tomorrows run.

Mon 24/8 - no run
Tue 25/8 3.17 miles 32:38 (10:18/mile)
Wed 26/8 7 miles 1:17:34 (11:05/mile)

sore feet...

Well not a bad week so far, after all the chaos at the weekend it was nice to get out on Monday for a little run, the sun was shining and it was Tom's birthday. I headed out for a 4-5 miler down the beach and was actually bouncing along in a nice pace.

On Tuesday I went out and did the 7 mile loop down the beach, I felt strong and managed a reasonable time (reasonable for me anyway).

Rested on Wednesday and Sorelimbs forced me to have a curry, twas nice and enjoyed watching the athletics on tv it's been a great World Championships.

Out on Thursday afternoon for a long run, I did 2 loops of the 7 mile run but it came in at 13 miles as I didn't run home again inbetween. I started off well and battled the wind up to Rhyl, average pace was nearly 12:00/miles but I wasn't concerned. Then took a right up to the prom where the wind was behind me and had a nice run back to Prestatyn, I took on some fluids and raisins then continued back to the coast road to do another loop. Windy again back to Rhyl and starting to get tired then took on some more fluids and headed back. The last 3 miles was horrendous, no energy, feet hurting and arms aching but I managed to plod back home. It took me ages to do this run but my last long run was only a few days ago so not too bad really for my new longest distance!

I need to find another new route as getting bored of running up the coast road, I'll have to go out on the top road instead which will give me plenty of hill work at the same time.

Mon 17/8 4.71 miles 0:48:36 (10.20/mile)
Tue 18/8 7.01 miles 1:16:21 (10:54/mile)
Wed 19/8 Rest
Thu 20/8 13 miles 2:34:53 (11:54/mile)
Fri 21/8 Rest

Happy birthday to Tom!

It's Tom's birthday today so we had a party for him at the weekend, lovely friends and family came to see the following:

Amelia aka Spiderman being a lovely girl all weekend and showing us her fighting moves with Daddy - missed punch, elbow then knee in the face! A lovely sweet little thing.

Tom 'adieu' enjoying lots of new people to get him some milk but slightly wary of the purple bunny that doesn't fall down.

Phil, Rob and Gary making fire - eventually!

And lots of alcohol consumed leading to the confession that Karen really is Superman.

Oh I forgot, before the carnage began I went out for a run 10.73 miles in 2:04:03 I had a bit of a nightmare at 8 miles but I felt better after some fluids and was fine by the time I got home.

A really good week for training, I'm pleased to have done over 33 miles in total and I'm feeling good (now the alcohol has gone), unfortunately Sorelimbs is still feeling ropey but that's to be expected and you should not sympathize :-)

Intervals

As mentioned I was going out to do intervals today, I felt they went really well and quite consistent. I did 0.9 mile warm up to the beach and then 3 x 1 miles runs with a minutes rest in between, so my times were 09:43,09:23,09:34.

Nay bad!

The week so far....

Hi all, I haven't been able to post for a few days. Unfortunately I couldn't get out for the weekend runs as Tom had a terrible couple of days with teething, I felt awful for him :-( and it wasn't fair to leave him with my parents when he felt so rotten.

So went out on Monday, I have been doing either hills or speed work on a Monday but last week I had no energy by the end of the week so I decided to move them until a Thursday as then I have a rest day on Friday.

Monday 10th Aug - did my 7 mile route and felt fine 7.05 miles in 1:18:02

Tuesday 11th Aug - I decided to go out on a longish run with hills as I need to get used to undulating courses as I hear Snowdon has a few peaks! 8.04 miles in 1:31:04

Wednesday 12th Aug - I had to fit in a short run before picking up the kids so I think this made me go a bit faster, which got me chatting to Sorelimbs as I wondered whether I should be working a bit harder or just keep up with the mileage and the times are naturally coming down. For instance my time for the 8 miles yesterday was 6 minutes quicker than my last 8 miler on flat ground. Today's run was 4.63 miles in 0:49:16.

Today will be 1 mile intervals, i.e. warm up 1 mile then 1 minute rest X 3, then warm down.

See you later.

Woohoo blog working

hasn't been working all evening now I'm too tired to write so will leave my ramblings until the morning x

Thank you

I wanted to say thanks to the anonymous person who sponsored me, I really appreciate your support x

Yesterday I was due to do 7 miles but after being in the office all morning I felt tired and jaded, I don't work in the office all the time as out seeing students so I hate being stuck inside. I was really struggling to decide whether to go out at all or to rest but the stubborness in me forced me to don my kit and head out into the sunshine. I cut the run short and did 3 miles instead, which was pants but better than nothing.

I was shattered by the evening and went to bed at 20:15 and had a lovely deep sleep, rest day today which is greatly needed then off out for a long run tomorrow thanks to my kind parents who are looking after the kids as Sorelimbs is away with the TA for the weekend.

7 miles in the sun

This morning is lovely, I went out after dropping the kids off at nursery as Sorelimbs is out this evening. I could certainly feel the calves achy from last night's hill work but that didn't stop me taking 3 mins off my last 7 miler which was on Thursday! My new t-shirt arrive for H4H so I'll get SL to take some phtos later to add to my sponsorship page.

Right better go and do some work now, see you later.

Mon 3/8 - 3 miles approx 32:00 coz GPS failed
Tues 4/8 - Hill work - 2.44m 38:55
Wed 5/8 - 7.02 miles 1:21:03

Hill work - omg it was hard

Today was hill work, I decided to run up the rather large hill that overlooks the town as at the top there is a nice viewing point and therefore a good point to turn around and come back down again.

The first part up the hill is quite a steady climb but then it gets really hard, at some points I was running on my tiptoes it was so steep but then I thought that was silly so walked a few yards. The road has lots of houses and is quite busy so I had to stop quite often to let cars pass safely, I'm not complaining it gave me a chance to catch my breath!

I the top I took some piccies then started on my way down, not bad coming down I had to make sure I didn't let the hill take me too fast as I still had to dodge traffic at times. At the bottom it was a nice little jaunt home.

2.44 miles, 38:55 minutes, goodness only knows what the incline was I'll get Sorelimbs to sort out those figures.

I didn't post my new pb distance......

I can't believe I didn't tell you all that I did a 10 mile run on Saturday, my longest distance to date. I took me 2 bloody hours but who cares, I did it. I 'm well into my plan now so those times should hopefully come down (if Mr Sorelimbs would kindly charge up the GPS) ;-) and my mileage will increase dramatically over the weeks.

I went out for a 3 miler today to stretch off still tired legs but felt OK. I worked out that I ran 29 miles altogether last week so that's not bad at all.

Hills tomorrow, I'm gonna take my camera phone to show you what I'll be attempting!
