Race for Life

It's my RFL on Sunday at 1400, so a couple of days to get some little runs in. I went for a 3 miler and doing sprints today, then a rest tomorrow before the run. Then time to get some serious training in and stop mincing about at 3 miles.

Glorious weather here and all the tourists are down the beach, should be a good weekend!

I'm not drinking ever again....

On Friday Mr Sorelimbs allowed me to go out for the evening, over the next few hours copious amounts of beers were forced down my neck and subsequently Saturday morning I was a tad ropey! I think the effects are just about going now so will get out for a run this evening, Race for life is on Sunday so I think I'd better get myself into gear.

Pants

That's the best description of my run this morning. I did a different route and after 2 miles I had absolutely no energy. It starts off flat until about 1 1/2 miles the a steady gradient for about 1/2 mile and then variable for the rest of the run which is 3.2 miles altogether. I tried to psyche myself into just getting to the next tree, lamppost or the end of the road but it just wasn't happening today. So a bit peeved but try again tomorrow!

On track

Quite literally, I decided to go up the track towards Dyserth as it has been a bit blowy and rainy here. I thought the wind wouldn't be as harsh as the track is lined with trees, houses oh and then a golf course. It was raining when I left but within a few mintues it had stopped and glorious sunshine for the rest of my run.

We've got strange teenagers round here, there were loads of them standing under the bridge as it was raining (wimps) and they were standing in a row so not many people could get past. I could see them watching me as I got closer and there was enough of a gap to get past so I did. And that was it! They were trying to look hard but actually I think they were probably just bored. So no reports of unruly yobs, bless 'em :-)

I've seen another MP3 player that I like, you just connect via usb so really simple to use:
Sony NWZ-B135 2GB MP3 Player.

The run was hard going out as at goes uphill gradually but coming back was lovely and I had a good pace going, no stats as GPS needed charging and is a bit unreliable up the track as the signal gets lost. I did 3 miles today and feel good.

Not sure what run I'm doing tomorrow, will think about it overnight.

Right baby to get to bed now, then little madam, then I'll be following soon. I wonder if Sorelimbs has remebered he offered to get up for baby during the night! ............................................................

Sprints

Yesterday afternoon I did some sprints, I went near the beach but not actually on the prom as it was windy as hell and exfoliation not needed, I did 5 x 120m sprints. Sounds pathetic doesn't it but it was hard work.

I love the looks from passers by 'Oh she's quite fast', 'Oh she's stopping', 'Is that it? Hardly a run'

So anyway it felt strange that I didn't do any type of distance yesterday but Sorelimbs said it's beneficial.

Rest day today, then out over the weekend. Have a great Friday!

Another 3 miles - done.

I did the same route as yesterday and enjoyed myself again except when I hit the beach, or rather the beach hit me. For anyone that pays for expensive exfoliation treatments, don't bother, just run down the beach when it's windy and you get a free, natural exfoliation that will make your skin a likkle sore but it will be worth it when you see the lovely red glow you have afterwards!

Yesterday I was harping on about losing weight, well I've been trying to get under 70kgs for ages now but it's not shifting. I'm definitely toning up as I brought some new jeans today and they fitted perfectly, am I obsessing about weight rather than fitness when I always said the weight loss was a side line not the main goal. However I'm not going to be too hard on myself as I have lost about 10kgs since having the baby.

r.e MP3, I'm liking this at the mo http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-NWS202SC-Walkman-Player-Silver/dp/B000IMB4LE/ref=sr_1_69?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1241641205&sr=1-69, hmmmmm not a good linky.

Moaning, talking about it, but doing nothing

If you want to lose weight and get fit and healthy then you actually have to make the effort to eat healthily and less, exercise, and keep active. Sounds pretty obvious doesn't it however I'm sure that some people I know think there's a secret to how I've lost (nearly) all the weight from my pregnancy. I won't mention who, where or why I'm in contact with these people but lets just says they are acquaintances. The majority are over-weight (quite significantly) and don't do any exercise, if they didn't moan about it then I wouldn't be writing this but as they do and then turn round to me and say 'How can you get fit when you're working full-time, have an 8 month old baby, a 4 year old girl and a house to run?'

I'd tell them that I have a baby-sitter, a house-keeper and a personal trainer but I'd be lying so I didn't. I just said I make time, I don't watch soaps on the tele, I don't eat rubbish food all the time and I have to say I have a brilliant hubbie who shares my love for running so that makes it easy to be focused and motivated too. ****Note brownie points earned***

I do love my running, I might stop and start but family does come first but I always go back to getting out there with some cracking tunes on the MP3 and I am luck to live in such a beautiful area.

So for anyone uming and ahing about going for a run, JUST GO, you'll be glad you did.

Run today - 3 miles in 30 minutes, noticed a few women running today as the Race for Life is in 3 weeks time. Unashamed link to sponsor page: http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/evabrewer

By the way I need a new MP3 player, any suggestions to one that's half decent?
