5 1/2 miles - bloody windy

After Sorelimbs had been out for his plod it was time to get my lazy behind out as well, schedule said 6 miles today so pretty apprehensive as I haven't done this distance for a long, long time and after not feeling well at the end of this week not sure how I would get on.

I started off fine, took it easy for the first mile down to the beach then started running along the seafront. After about 1/2 a mile the wind really picked up an I was battling to walk let alone run, plus the sand was stinging my ankles (painful I can tell you!). So had to abandon my original route and come off the front and across to the main coast road beside the golf course. I ran up there quite well but the wind and bursts of rain were not going to make it easy for me, I lost my cap a couple of times. Queue of traffic along the route due to roadworks, I could tell they thought I'd lost the plot a tad. Anyway I carried on along the road until I got to Rhyl, then a bloody dog starts running towards me, this time no owner, so I was really wary as if it was a stray and hungry then my ankle looked quite tasty. Luckily it just ran off again.

I kept on the coast road until I got to the delight of Rhyl holiday park and decided to stop at the bus shelter to have some raisins as feeling decidedly peaky. Bloke looked at me maybe wondering if I was get the bus home but as it was raining again it seemed a good place to rest a min.

I felt much better after a handful of raisins and started on my way home, I took it easy again as I was rapidly losing energy but managed to keep going.

It took 1 hour 15 mins with the interruptions of the sand storm, the dog and refuel and a bit peeved that it was the full 6 miles but it's the longest run for ages so still happy.

Had a lovely bath and Sorelimbs made roasted veg and couscous for lunch so feeling content but slightly shattered.

A good morning. xx

Excellent! The weather sounds really challenging, it's something different running alongside the sea...especially in blustery Cymru! What is it with these dogs?! I had a Jack Russell type leap at me yesterday and I must have looked so silly and girly jumping away from it!

Mmmm, raisins, always a handy stash in a mum's bag ;)
